A Ferry Flight that Started a Friendship!
In December of 2022, I was contracted by a new Vision Jet owner to fly his brand new Vision Jet from Atlanta, Georgia to Thermal, California. It is always exciting to fly brand new aircrafts, but the real reward, for me, is to share jet ownership with new owners. I flew the jet from Atlanta to Nashville and kept it in my hangar over Christmas break. I spent a few hours detailing the aircraft before the flights to the west coast.
This trip was a unique because the owner of the aircraft permitted me have my wife accompany me on the flights.
We flew from Nashville to Tulsa, Oklahoma for a fuel stop and lunch. The second flight was from Tulsa to Albuquerque, New Mexico. The third flight was from Albuquerque to Thermal, California. The flight time totaled around five and a half hours and about 1650 nautical miles.
We ended the day by parking the jet at Desert Jet Aviation in Thermal. What a great FBO.
I ended up flying with the owner quite a but for his first six months of ownership. I flew the plane to Knoxville and flew with him on his "Victory Lap" home. I flew with him through his SOE and on business trips for several months. We became friends and that was the best part of this story.
